The Butcher (and Cliff Richard)

The cat was put among the pigeons on Tuesday night with our darkest most controversial studio evening to date. I had been approached by model/actor Marcus Massey to join us for an evening, and he has an amazing portfolio (see for yourself: https://purpleport.com/portfolio/shadowman ) with a very dark, sinister look, so that gave me an idea of what we could go for. We've always enjoyed pushing ourselves on our studio nights, and this time we'd be pushing it further than we had before, and going into the realms of bad taste and possibly for the first time having people who wouldn't enjoy it.

The concept of a sinister, unkempt butcher had been with me for a couple of years after a trip to a meat market in Mauritius, where one butcher was happy puffing away on a cigarette whilst he was dissecting a pig and placing the various parts on hooks all lined up next to each other.

Marcus was happy to go with this idea, so Wendy sourced the pigs head and hearts, Ty got the chopping block and blades and we were ready to go.

Personally, I enjoyed the evening and didn't think we took it too far, we had lots of positive feedback from members who partook in the event and came away with some strong images. We will most definitely be working with Marcus again in the future.
