My camera had taken up residence inside my camera back since the Hallowe'en shoot back in October. After a message from Ty asking if I was up for some long exposure night shots, batteries were charged, warm clothes put on and I drove down to Abbey Wood to go up to Lessness Abbey for a spot of wire wool burning. Wire wool burning always makes spectacular images, however when you're in the process of making these shots, it looks anything but. After a false start when we realised none of us had brought anything to actually ignite the wire wool, we got going. We ended up spending a few hours, with the Abbey to ourselves and I was pretty happy how these shots turned out, especially the ones with the umbrella. This was a very simple set up, a batter powered LED light with a bit of blue plastic in front of it to cast a blue glow, a fishing umbrella covered in foil and up to a minute of exposure to capture all the flying sparks. More images can be found in the "At Night" section of the site.
